As anyone following the weather knows, Hurricane Matthew hit North Carolina this past weekend. Here in Raleigh we experienced severe thunderstorms, the power went out for many (8 hours at our home) and some flooding occurred as the nearby creeks overflowed. We are grateful that we made it through the storm safely, our prayers are with those who were less fortunate—we have heard several stories of trees collapsing on homes and vehicles in the area.
After the storm, my wife I took a walk along our favorite Greenway by a local pond and enjoyed the freshness of the cool autumn air. The leaves have been steadily changing, gaining golden hues; and after the pouring rain that lasted for over 24 hours, the woods seemed so vibrant and fresh with all the clinging dust washed away. This set captures the beautiful autumn leaves as a Fall is finally here (at least it finally looks and feels like fall here in NC). I am so excited to see the trees change further to gorgeous oranges and reds later in the season, which is wonderful for painting and photography.
